Out of Sunset’s Red

Out of the sunset’s red
Into the blushing sea,
The winds of day drop dead
And dreams come home to me. —
The sea is still,— and apart
Is a stillness in my heart.
The night comes up the beach,
The dark steals over all,
Though silence has no speech
I hear the sea-dreams call
To my heart; — and in reply
It answers with a sigh.

NaBloPoMo Note: November is National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) and I’ve been figuring out how to squeeze in daily posting with all the general madness of end-of-semester and my “more serious” writing projects. I need the daily moment away from the madness, so for the fourth year in a row, I’m in! Besides, my “to be blogged” bin overflows and NaBloPoMo will [hopefully] give me a chance to empty it a bit. Most posts will be “short and sweet,” but I plan to be here every day, so I hope you’ll check in every now and then and cheer me on! 🙂

Can you imagine being a Louisiana girl in Alabama during this time of year? I’m not a college football fan at all. I root for “the other team” just to be contrary. Haha. When we lived in Gainesville, Florida, I was a fan of LSU Tigers. In New Orleans, Florida Gator. Now, that we’re here, I flip flop between the Tigers and the Gators, but never Roll Tide. Haha! College football is taken very seriously here, so I usually whisper. 😀

Haha. I used to be the same way. In New Orleans, I got so sick or the obnoxious zeal at work that I would pull for the other team. From a safe distance, I can pull for the Tigers. I don’t care much but am interested in the game since it pits the two best in the country. I like Nick Saban too (may because Tiger fans are at their most obnoxious when hating on him 🙂 ). I can only imagine how serious this is in Alabama. At least in Nola — if you’ll forgive my light-as-a-feather arrogance — we have perhaps more threads in the cultural tapestry than football to focus on 🙂

Arrogance allowed! All the other cultural offerings aside, I’m all like “we have pro ball in NOLA. We don’t have to go crazy over mere college ball.” LOL! They take it very seriously here–the battle between Alabama fans and Auburn fans. Whew! I do not get involved in that one.
