It’s gray and a little rainy today, but earlier this week we had a strong dose of sun. As soon as I had a break [Monday], I raced out my office, soaked in the sun, and basked in the therapeutic presence of trees. I’m so glad I did because I spent most of Tuesday in meetings!
I shot the photos in this post with my phone camera while the sun played peek-a-boo with the clouds.
I have been a little “off kilter” the last few days for a variety of reasons, but the brief visit with trees provided calm and perspective when I needed to tune out and tune in.
so hungry
for sun
it sheds
its clothes
and stretches naked
branches toward the sky
“Winter Tree,” Laura P. Salas
Oh yes, I have been hungry for the sun and trees too! The poem you shared “winter tree” reminded me of a poem an old friend of mine said all the time — The leaves are gone, the trees are bare, no wonder the corn is shocked! — That always makes me laugh! Thank you for reminding me of a dear friend gone many years now. (Corn was shocked when it was harvested back in the old days of agriculture.)

Awww….I’m sorry for the loss of your dear friend, but happy to invoke a fond memory. We’re back to gloomy weather. Boo hiss…I think there’s one day of sun predicted for the next week. Of course, the forecasters are often wrong.

One of my favorite things to do is sit under a tree and listen to the sounds it makes when the wind blows through it leaves. It is almost like their language, like the tree is trying to speak to us. Such a beautiful sound. My favorite is the Cottonwood tree because those leaves make a different noise then most trees.

Wow! I never thought of that. I’ll have to take a moment to listen to the “various” sounds of the trees. That is a new kind of listening for me.

There is a real beauty in the starkness of these trees. Thanks for helping us see it.

All the trees are so beautiful and you are right that during the day, the sunlight and the sky makes these trees look so all encompassing of the nature around us. Thank you Chandra for the extra tree love! I hope to see you on the 13th.

Beautiful trees! They look so grand. And wonderful to see some bright blue sky! A visit to trees really does offer calm and perspective. This post reminds me of my walk in local woods this morning. 🙂

I would LOVE a walk in the woods right now. We have had soooooo much rain this winter. It’s been unbearable. The sun comes out tomorrow, so I’m really looking forward to that!

Trees do have that calming effect even if they are bare. And yes it is so wonderful to catch the sun in winter.

We have had so little sun this winter–which is unusual. Every little bit helps!

Oh goodness. Yes, find the trees. I’ve been teleworking since March and the thought of going back to the office in September makes me anxious. Lots of TLC. What do you do for anxiety? Somebody told me she put a drop of lavender in her mask when she had to go back to work. I think I might do that too.

A lot of deep breathing. Starting my day with complete quiet and journaling. Prayer and scripture meditation throughout the day. Ending my day with quiet and journaling. I’m going to have to add chocolate to the equation starting August 3.

And tea…always tea.

Always tea. Another thing we have in common. I just got some lavender rose the other day. Prior to that, I was on a peach theme. The peach oolong was my favorite with the peach rooibos a close second. Maybe you can get a special tea for back-to-work week.

Ohhh…running to look into lavender rose. I’m going to NEED a special tea for back-to-work week. In fact, I spent far too much time in Zoom meetings this week in preparation for “back go work.” I need the tea now. LOL!
