For me, the hardest part about this lockdown situation is having to miss my time with the trees. Unless we’re going to replenish supplies, we can go no further than our neighborhoods, but our youngish neighborhood has no splendid trees shooting way up to the sky.
Earlier this week while my hubby ran into a store, I noticed a redbud tree at the edge of the parking lot. Desperate, I took advantage of the situation, and spent the few precious moments with the tree. The buds are usually gone by mid-March, so I was surprised to find the pink buds still on the tree. I was also pleased to find leaves beginning to sprout because I always miss that phase.
For this first #ThursdayTreeLove of National Poetry Month, you get photos of the tree and Joyce Kilmer’s popular poem, “Trees.”
He’s right. There’s no poem as lovely as a tree.
Trees
Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Gorgeous pictures! You certainly put those brief instants to good use!

Thank you! I’m not even sure those were the best of the bunch. I think I captured at least 15 photos. It’s amazing what we can do when pressed for time. 😀

I think of it often. I probably repeat it to myself at least a few times per month. LOL! Thanks for loving the photos and for appreciating the poem.

It may be the little wren in me but I’m a tree lover – even hugger too. Good job you got to feel at one with nature, however briefly!

Such lovely pictures! You could see these leaves just because of the current situation! Stay Safe!

Yes! I thought about that. Had it not been for this dreadful situation, I would have missed that. So there’s some good–the silver lining.

Love that poem! Beautiful tree pics… and I am so glad you got some tree time! We all need that especially during these stressful times. Luckily I have some great trees in my backyard, and a screened porch to gaze at them.

I’d never heard of a redbud tree. It’s lovely. And you’ve made me appreciate the trees I get to see on my walk, in my very leafy, very established neighbourhood.
