I drafted a rather lengthy blog post earlier today when I had energy and (a little) time for words, but the evening calls not for my words but for something different.
Late Prayer
Jane Hirshfield
Tenderness does not choose its own uses.
It goes out to everything equally,
circling rabbit and hawk.
Look: in the iron bucket,
a single nail, a single ruby –
all the heavens and hells.
They rattle in the heart and make one sound.
About the Image: Unfortunately, I have been hypersensitive to tree pollen this year, so I have not been able to spend much time in tree therapy. I pulled the image above from last year’s archive. The trees and sky greeted me as I exited a store one afternoon. Of course, I “amped” up the colors a bit to make the sky more dramatic.
I usually join Parul Thakur for #ThursdayTreeLove every second and fourth Thursday of the month. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog and link it back to her latest #treelove post.
I hear you on the tree pollen. I’m in Georgia, and today when I went outside I had to use my inhaler. I don’t have asthma; it’s asthmatic allergies. P.S. – I always enjoy your blog posts!

Oh, I hear you! The pollen has been obnoxious this year. I had grown accustomed to the “valley pollen,” but this year feels just as bad as my first year living in the area. Thanks for enjoying my blog posts! 🙂

Much better, but still have to be careful. The pollen has been very high. The grass pollen now, but where are trees? Sitting in the middle of grass usually!

Beautiful job editing the sky and I love that poem. That last line “They rattle in the heart and make one sound”—wow.

Yes. That “wow” was also my reaction to the last line.

That’s a beautiful shot. I am sorry to hear. I hope it gets better for you and you can enjoy some time outside around trees. Thanks for joining. I missed you around and was hoping for your well-being. I also missed last edition but working on today’s. An hour of work and it should be live. Take care and hugs!

An intriguing prayer and dynamic photo! I understand about the tree pollen issue. It’s hard to a tree lover to be allergic. I recently started getting acupuncture and it seems to be helping – at least I don’t have to take as much allergy medicine. Take care!
